About Me

Hey, I'm Maya

I'm a therapist in Austin who believes therapy should feel like a real conversation, not a clinical interrogation. Let me tell you a bit about how I got here.

My Story

How I Ended Up Doing This

Honestly? I became a therapist because traditional therapy always felt kind of inaccessible to me. Too clinical. Too stuffy. Too many awkward silences where someone just stares at you waiting for a breakthrough. I knew there had to be a better way.

I studied social work at UT Austin, where I fell in love with working with young adults. Turns out, the people who seem like they have it all together are often the ones struggling the most with anxiety, overthinking, and the pressure to figure everything out by 30.

After graduating, I trained in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and somatic approaches because I wanted tools that actually work in real life, not just in textbooks. I built my practice around the idea that therapy should feel like talking to someone who genuinely gets it.

Eight years and 500+ clients later, I still get excited about this work. Every single session. Because watching someone go from "I don't know what's wrong with me" to "oh, this actually makes sense" never gets old.

"I don't believe therapy has to feel clinical to be effective. Some of my best sessions happen when a client says 'wait, can we talk about this thing that just came up?'"
