FAQ

Common questions

What is the first session like?

Your first session is a chance for us to get to know each other. I'll ask about what brought you here, a bit about your history, and what you're hoping to get out of therapy. There's no pressure to share more than you're comfortable with. Think of it as a conversation, not an interview. Most people leave feeling relieved that it was much easier than they expected.

How often should I come?

Most clients start with weekly sessions. This gives us momentum and helps you build on what we're working on together. As you start to feel more grounded, we can move to biweekly or monthly check-ins. There's no rigid schedule — we figure out what works best for you.

Do you accept insurance?

I'm an out-of-network provider, which means I don't bill insurance directly. But I do provide superbills — detailed receipts you can submit to your insurance for potential reimbursement. Many PPO plans reimburse 50–80%. I also accept HSA/FSA cards and have a limited number of sliding-scale spots. Just ask — I'm happy to talk about what works for your budget.

What if I've never been to therapy before?

You're not alone — many of my clients are brand new to therapy, and that's completely okay. You don't need to have anything figured out before you come in. You don't need to prepare a speech or know the "right" things to say. Just come as you are. My job is to make the space feel comfortable and to guide us from there.

Can I switch between in-person and virtual?

Absolutely. Many of my clients do a mix of both depending on their week. Some prefer in-person for deeper work and virtual for weeks when life is busy. We can be flexible — whatever helps you show up consistently is what matters most.

What is your cancellation policy?

I ask for 48 hours' notice if you need to cancel or reschedule. Late cancellations and no-shows are charged the full session fee. I know life happens — if something truly unexpected comes up, just let me know and we'll figure it out together. The policy is there to respect both our time, not to add stress.
