Therapy doesn't have to feel scary

Here's what working together actually looks like, so there are no surprises.

Before Your First Session

It starts with a conversation

Before we ever meet in person, we'll have a free 15-minute phone call. This is your chance to ask questions, share a little about what's going on, and get a feel for whether I'm the right fit. There's no pressure and no commitment.

If we decide to move forward, I'll send you some simple paperwork to fill out before our first session. Nothing overwhelming — just the basics so we can make the most of our time together.

Your First Session

Welcome to my living room

My office in Asheville was designed to feel like a comfortable living room — not a clinical space. There are plants, warm lighting, a cozy couch, and usually a cup of tea waiting for you.

Your first session is extended (80 minutes) so we don't have to rush. We'll talk about what brought you here, what you're hoping for, and start to build a plan together. You'll never be pushed to share more than you're ready to.

Ongoing Sessions

Building at your pace

Weekly or biweekly sessions are where the real work happens. Some weeks, we'll dig into something deep. Other weeks, we'll catch our breath. Both are progress.

I blend conversation with gentle exercises — mindfulness practices, reflection prompts, and skills you can use between sessions. Therapy isn't just what happens in this room. It's how you carry it into your life.

When You're Ready

Endings are part of the journey

When you start feeling stronger and more grounded, we'll naturally begin spacing out sessions. There's no graduation ceremony — just a gradual shift toward independence.

And the door is always open. Many of my clients come back for a tune-up during big life moments. Once you're a client, you're always welcome.

I don't follow a rigid playbook. I draw from several evidence-based approaches and tailor them to what you actually need.

Person-Centered Therapy

The foundation of everything I do. I believe you already have the answers — my job is to create the conditions where you can find them. This means deep listening, genuine warmth, and unconditional positive regard.

Acceptance & Commitment Therapy

Learning to accept what's out of your control and commit to actions that enrich your life. ACT helps you clarify your values and build a life that aligns with what truly matters to you.

Mindfulness Practices

Simple, grounded techniques to help you stay present, regulate your nervous system, and find calm in daily life. Nothing complicated — just practical tools you can use anywhere.

Internal Family Systems

A gentle approach to understanding the different parts of yourself with curiosity and compassion, rather than judgment. IFS helps you build a more harmonious relationship with all of who you are.
